The classroom is the place where your children will spend the most time during school. They will be interacting with other children when they’re completing work, and with the teacher. Here are some basic courtesy rules that children should follow when in this space.
Raise Your Hand Before You Speak: If your child has a question or would like to say something during class time they should always raise their hand before speaking. When the teacher calls on them, they are allowed to speak. This prevents children from talking over one another and helps them to not interrupt the teacher.
Listen: The classroom is a place to learn and it’s difficult to retain any information if children aren’t actively paying attention in class. If the teacher or other classmates are speaking, your child should listen to what they have to say, it may be important.
Pick Up After Yourself: The classroom is a communal space used by many other children so it’s important to keep it clean and tidy. When your child is done using their school supplies or toys, it’s important to know how and where to put them away when they’re finished. This keeps the classroom from being cluttered.
Be Honest and Respectful: Honesty is one of the most important qualities your child can practice in their class. Lying and cheating aren’t good behaviors to possess because they can create a sense of mistrust and the penalties aren’t worth the punishment. If your child is always honest and respectful towards others they will be continually trusted by their peers
Lunchtime is one of the best times of the day for children. When your child sits down and begins to eat, here are some etiquette tips they should follow.
Don’t Talk With Your Mouth Full: When eating their food, make sure your child never talks with a full mouth since it can be uncomfortable and disrespectful to others.
Stay In Your Seat: When a child sits down for lunch they should continually stay seated during the duration of the meal to avoid causing a distraction to other students.
Clean Up After Yourself: When they are finished eating, children should gather all of their trash and throw it away in the garbage to prevent causing a mess others will have to pick up.
Playtime etiquette is just as important as classroom and lunchroom etiquette. When it’s time to play inside or outside your child should follow these practice manners.
Wait Your Turn: There won’t always be enough play equipment to fulfill every child’s desires at a given time. Waiting for a particular toy or piece of equipment will help your child practice patience skills.
Always Encourage Others To Join: Your child should practice being the friend they would want to have themselves. If they see anyone playing by themselves or someone who isn’t included, they should learn to always invite them to play.
